The problem: a short neck and a daily wrestling match

A Frenchie has a wide chest and almost no neck. A collar has nothing to grip, so every pull lands right at his throat.

An over-the-head harness solves that, until you try to hold a wriggling dog still while fabric passes his ears and eyes.

The fix: lay it flat, step in, click

Lay the harness flat, guide his front paws into the leg openings, lift the chest panel and close the buckle at his side. Nothing goes over his head.

The padded panel runs across his chest and under his belly, so the pull is spread over a wide area instead of a thin strap.

That is the whole point for a short-necked, wide-chested dog: the pull lands where he is built to take it, and the walk stays calm.

What you get

You get a harness and a matching leash, cut from the same brown webbing. The leash has its own swivel clip, so it turns instead of twisting up mid-walk.

The straps run through adjusters on both shoulders, so you can tighten the fit once it is on. A stitched bear patch sits on the chest panel.

Before the first walk, slide your fingers flat under a strap. Snug with a little resistance is right. Loose enough to lift the strap away means tighten it.

Clip the leash onto the metal ring itself, never the fabric loop beside it. Hand wash in cool water, air dry, and keep it out of the washer and dryer.

Who it suits, and who it does not

It suits the Frenchie on ordinary neighborhood walks, and the owner who wants harness and leash in a single order.

Skip it if you are training a hard puller. Both rings sit on his back, so it is a comfort harness, not a front-clip trainer.

Skip it too if he has already learned to back out of every step-in harness, however well it was fitted. An over-the-head or vest style will hold him better.
