The problem: he leaves his soft bed to lie on the tile

It is a hot afternoon. Your Frenchie gets up from his cushion, crosses the kitchen and drops onto the coldest floor in the house. Belly down, legs out, chin on the tile.

He is telling you something. A thick bed is the last place he wants to be right now, and the bare floor is hard on a dog who lies there for hours.

The fix: a thin pad for the spot where he already lies

This mat is made for exactly that moment. It is a flat, quilted pad you lay on the floor where he already flops. The top is ice silk, which feels cool under your hand, though not icy.

A Frenchie has a short coat and a low belly, so his skin lies right on the pad. There is no cord, no gel pouch and no water to fill. You unfold it and put it down.

One honest thing: it takes heat from him, so it is coolest when he first lies down and warmer the longer he stays. It is a cool pad, not a freezer pad.

When he gets up, lay your palm on the spot. If it is warm, let the mat rest on the bare floor before he settles there again.

What you get

A thin pad with a quilted circle pattern on top and binding around the edge. It has no walls and no filling. It is light, it folds flat, and it goes in the car when he visits your sister.

Put it on tile or hardwood, out of the sun, not on top of his bed. A bed underneath traps his warmth. On a smooth floor, a rubber rug pad underneath keeps it from sliding.

It is washable. Spread it flat and let it dry all the way through before he lies on it again.

Who it suits, and who it does not

It suits the Frenchie who already lies on the tile and the owner who wants a simple pad for that spot. Nothing to charge, nothing to refill.

Skip it if he chews fabric. A thin pad can be grabbed by the edge, and we cannot promise any mat is chew-proof.

Skip it if he wants a thick cushion, because this one has no padding. And in winter a cool pad is the wrong place to lie, so fold it away until spring.

A mat is a place to lie, not an air conditioner, and it does not make a parked car safe. If he is panting hard and will not settle, take him somewhere cool and call your vet.

How to choose

Weight picks the size, and an adult Frenchie takes the largest one. The size table shows every size.

Then let him lie out in his favorite spot and measure from nose to base of tail: the pad should be at least that long. Between two sizes, take the larger.

On day one, lay it where he already flops and drop a treat in the middle. If he ignores it for a few days, that is normal. Leave it down and let it be his idea.

Pick your size and add it to the cart.

Frequently asked

What size cooling mat does a French Bulldog need?
An adult Frenchie takes the largest size. Check the size table for the weight range of each one. The smaller sizes are for puppies, and he grows out of them. Between two sizes, take the larger.
Does a cooling mat stay cold all day?
No. It feels cool when he lies down and warms as he lies on it. Once he gets up, give it time on a bare floor before he settles there again. It is a cool pad, not a freezer pad.
Where do I put a cooling mat for my French Bulldog?
On tile or hardwood, out of the sun, in a room where the family sits. Not on top of a bed, because the bed underneath traps his warmth. On a smooth floor, add a rubber rug pad.
Is this dog cooling mat washable?
Yes. Spread it flat and let it dry all the way through before he lies on it again, because a damp mat starts to smell. After washing, check the edge binding for a lifted stitch.
Will my French Bulldog chew a cooling mat?
A chewer can grab the edge of a thin fabric pad, and no mat is chew-proof. If he still tests everything in reach, wait. If a stitch lifts or a thread comes loose, take the mat away until fixed.
