Grey dog bed with a raised bolster on three sides and a low open front.
  • Memory foam base that lets a heavy chest sink in, not perch on top.
  • Raised back and sides for his chin. The front dips low, so he walks in.
  • Washable cover with a zipper on the bottom edge. The foam stays out of the machine.
  • Size by weight. Check the size table, then pick yours.

The problem: nothing to lean on

Watch a Frenchie settle on the couch. He turns around, backs into the corner and drops his chin on the armrest.

A flat mat gives him nothing to lean on, so he ends up back on the couch.

The fix: a bed with walls

This bed has a raised bolster along the back and both sides, covered in soft faux fur. The front dips low, so he steps in instead of climbing over a rim.

Under the fur sits a solid block of memory foam. Press your palm into it and the print fades slowly, which is what lets a heavy chest sink in.

What you get

Nothing to assemble. The bed arrives packed small, so give it a few hours to open up before his first night. New foam can smell for a day, and an airy room takes care of that.

When it needs a wash, turn the bed over, open the zipper on the bottom edge and pull out the foam in its waterproof liner. The cover goes in the washing machine. The foam does not.

Put it where the family sits, next to the couch he already likes, and a little away from a radiator.

Who it suits, and who it does not

It suits the Frenchie who curls into corners and rests his chin on whatever is nearby, and the owner who wants a cover that washes easily.

Skip it if he flops on the cool tile when the weather is hot. The surface is faux fur, which is a warm place to lie, so this is a bed for the cooler months.

Skip it for now if your puppy chews everything in reach. A fur cover and a zipper are easy to get hold of.

And if he only ever sleeps curled up tight, he does not need walls this long.

How to choose

Weight picks the size. Check the size table, and most adult Frenchies will land on M.

Then let him lie out in his favorite spot and measure from his nose to the base of his tail. The sleeping surface should be longer than that. Between two sizes, take the larger one.

Measure the spot on your floor too, so the bed fits where you want it. Pick your size and add it to the cart.

Frequently asked

What size dog bed does a French Bulldog need?
Weight picks the size, so check the size table. Most adult Frenchies take M. S is for a young puppy and L is for a big Frenchie who sprawls. Between two sizes, take the larger one.
Is the cover machine washable?
Yes. Open the zipper on the bottom edge, pull out the foam in its liner, and put the cover in the washing machine. The foam stays out of the machine.
Is this dog bed waterproof?
The inner liner is waterproof. It sits between the foam and the fur cover. The cover itself is not waterproof, so an accident lands on it first. Unzip it and wash it.
Is it too warm for a French Bulldog?
The sleeping surface is faux fur, so it is a warm place to lie. If your Frenchie heads for the tile in hot weather, this bed suits the cooler months better.
Will a puppy chew this bed?
A puppy who chews fabric can reach the fur cover and the zipper. If he is still chewing everything in reach, wait. This bed is for a dog who naps.
